I think we can all agree that sometimes the world isn't the kindest of places. Sometimes you just need an escape. In my job, it can get overwhelming quick. Sadly, as a department, we don't connect with people on a good day. If we connect, it really wasn't your best day. Needless to say, when I'm searching out entertainment, I'm looking for something uplifting. I'm looking for kindness, caring, love, community, family, and happily ever after. Hallmark gives me that. Their advertisement says they are "the heart of TV". They really are and I love it!
I found Hallmark several years ago, probably close to 10 years ago if I'm being honest. I stumbled on Hallmark when looking for Christmas shows. Before Hallmark all I had was ABC Family's (I think they're Free Form now) 25 Days of Christmas. Now there was nothing wrong with 25 Days of Christmas except that it was only twenty-five days and only for about two hours a night. That just wasn't enough. Then I found Hallmark.
I absolutely fell in love with Hallmark! No pun intended. Hallmark offers innocent, fun stories full of all the gentle things in life. Even when there is strife, it isn't overdone and in the end, you know it's all going to turn out just fine. Maybe it isn't real life, but it's as real as I want it.
I also enjoy how the shows change with the seasons. Winterfest starts in January and offers the same gentle movies only set in a winter theme. Then comes Countdown to Valentine's Day, Spring Fever, June Weddings, Countdown to Summer, Summer Nights, Christmas in July, Countdown to Christmas, and Miracles of Christmas on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.
My favorites, of course, are the Christmas movies on both the regular Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. This year is especially great because it's the tenth anniversary and Hallmark is going all out with premiers on Thursday and Friday (Hallmark Movies and Mysteries) and Saturday and Sunday (regular Hallmark channel). And of course there are 24/7 Christmas movies on both channels. (They started on October 24th.)
And therein lies the reason for this blog. With so many movies (Christmas or otherwise), I thought it would be nice to do a quick summary and review of the movies so others have a little more to go on than just a blurb in the channel guide. I hope you enjoy the reviews and I hope you enjoy the movies as much as I do!
Happy watching!
